CrePes and Cream SM Megamall

There is a new shop of CrePes and Cream at Megamall Level 4 bridge way near the Atrium. I first learned about CrePes and Cream is with my friend Zee. She invited me and other of our office mate to eat out. She took us at CrePes and Cream at the Fort which is only a walking distance from our office then. They have this 2 huge crepe-making pan station where specialist spins the crepes and right there in front of us they prepare all our ordered. It was great!

CrePes and Cream

But this one is different from the other CrePes and Creme shop we all know. The cool thing about this new shop is that, it has a more homey atmosphere and it look like a coffee shop. That must be the reason why they serves UCC coffee. It comes in three variant the Basic Roast, French Roast and Decaf. Another new thing that I saw is that they also now offer Javapalooza a creamy blended drink. It comes in Vanilla Banana, Strawberry Caramel, Cappuccino, Choco Mocha Creme Brulee.

Spicy Tuna Onion

I ordered the Spicy Tuna Onion, and just like I told you. They started preparing my order in from of me. Starting with the crepes mix which they pour in the the huge and hot crepe pan. Then one-by-one they put the ingredient which are fresh and crunchy. My order was server in just 5 mins. I was delicious, the pepper was crunchy and every bite was full of flavor. I really would recommend it to those who love hot ans spicy food.

Crepes and Cream Delight

There are over 30 types of crepes made fresh for you to choose from. The crepes menu are divided in Savory, Sweets, Ice Cream, and Sundaes. And I tell you one order of any of the Savory crepes, your full for he day. But if you still can’t decide they have this new gimik. The “Create your own crepe” so patron can create their own meal.

CrePes and Cream with friends

CrePes and Cream came from Singapore and is an eat-to-go kind of food. That’s why the food was warped in crepes so that you can eat it at the park, cinema, or while walking to work.

They have branches at The Podium, Bonifacio Global City, Powerplant, Rockwell Center, SM MOA (Main Mall and Entertainment Mall), SM Pampanga, Robinsons Place Manila and the newest addition is at SM MegaMall.

I have been a regular customer of UCC Coffee for a couple of years now. And what i’m about to write is a total disappointment. I may be a thousand miles away from Japan, but I hope this does not happen to anyone, anywhere. Ever.

Last February 22, 2009, late afternoon, i was with my son and some friends having ice cream and crepe at Crepes and Cream, a sister company of UCC here in the Philippines. Robinson’s Manila branch. We stayed on one of the couches near the metal grills for some 20-30 minutes while enjoying our ice cream and crepes when we decided it was time to go home. We proceeded to the parking lot level 6 of Robinsons. Upon payment of the parking fee i noticed that my wallet, a black, Kenneth Cole (with a strap) went missing.

My friends and I searched inside the car thinking it could have slipped from my pocket while boarding the car, checked my bag, turned everything inside out for the next 20mins. Finally, i realized that it probably slipped out of my back pocket while i was at Crepes and Cream since it was the last establishment we went to prior to the parking lot. It took me and my friend around 2-4minutes to get back to C&C and when we arrived, i went directly to the area where we were seated.

A chinese family was there and i asked if they noticed or saw the black Kenneth Cole wallet. They said they did not. My friend on the other hand went straight to the counter where all the staff of around 5 or 6 were standing. He motioned for me to come over and when i arrived on the spot, he said that one of the staff said that she was the one who retrieved the wallet from the couch. She saw it there and brought it to the counter.

I felt appeased thinking that i could claim my wallet.

I asked her to describe the wallet and she did. “Black, with strap,” and used her hand to visually draw the size of the wallet. I gave a sigh of relief but that sigh went on to disappear when she said that somebody already claimed it!

I was shocked and a bit confused when i heard her say those words. I asked her if she even verified the person who claimed MY wallet by checking and asking some probing questions like, what was the name on the cards inside, the amount of money, what were the identification cards inserted on the sleeves of the wallet.

But low and behold, the staff answered that she DID NOT VERIFY and just gave the wallet, MY WALLET to the man whom she described as wearing a cream shirt and shorts and who looks ‘matino.’ I asked them if they have a standard procedure for lost and found items and they just fell quiet. Then the acting manager said that most of the time, those who claim items, even at UCC, were the owners. Funny, because how could they have proven that those were the owners considering they did not have any SOP nor verified anything in the first place!!!

THEY GAVE MY WALLET, WITH ALL MY IDS AND CASH, TO A TOTAL STRANGER!

I went to the security office of Robinsons Manila and filed a report. The security officer in-charge called the two staffs for breifing. And upon questioning, they said the same thing.

That they do not verify in case of lost and found situations because they immediately ASSUMED that those claimants were the owners!

    I find this TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

I finally had to leave because my car was parked in front of another car. I asked one of the two staff to give me the number where i could file a formal complaint. She gave me the number of the UCC branch in Robinsons Manila. I called UCC using my mobile and talked to the manager, Grace. At first she was gracious and apologetic, but to my dismay, she gave me another stupid reason why they werent able to do what i assumed was standard protocol in any company which was verification through questioning-

    THEY WERE TOO BUSY.

Too busy? c’mon. This is totally unprofessional. I have worked in retail and been to many restaurants, hell i’ve been a customer of UCC for the longest time! But i have not encountered a company who has no policy, or if there’s one, who didn’t enforce whatsoever this procedure when handling lost and found items! This ticked me off. I told her to write an incident report and that her staff should be penalized for such actions! After 15 minutes of word war, i asked her for the address and number of the main office and she said she cannot divulge such confidential information!

Really now. What am I, stupid?

I finally put down my mobile after saying that i will expect a feedback the next day, Monday. She agreed.

The next day, i called UCC again and talked to another manager, Charo. She was, in fairness to her, listening and was apologetic about what happened. After explaining again what happened, she said that she will be coordinating with me daily for updates.

Tuesday, i got a call from Charo, telling me of the possibility of them settling the cash i indicated on my report. Me and my family disagreed on that proposition.

Here’s the thing, arent they suppose to pay the following:
    1. Cash stuffed inside my wallet
    2. The cost and time of getting a new license, a new Social Security Card, ATMs, and the like?
    3. Cost of getting copies for an Affidavit of Loss that is required to have new cards.
    4. The amount of my wallet.

And after informing her of these things, we never got another feedback from UCC.

This is a big disappointment. And as a loyal patron of UCC, i cannot decipher how the staff working for your company are being trained.

Im still waiting for any response from them.

I’m sorry to what had happen to you. I will relay the message to the Crepes and Cream management.

  5. Vincent says:

What has this story to do with crepes and cream ?? Can’t you take care of your own stuff ? Are you a baby ?? whining and whining over and over again about your lost items, and finally blame the staff of that company because you’re dissapointed loosing your own things?? You know what ???I THINK the staff has no right too look into your wallet !!! Moreover what is disgusting is that YOU embarrassed the staff by calling security as treat them like criminals !!! I think you are a overspoild asshole, while thousands of people suffer from hunger in your country, you whine about a lost wallet !!! ??? You know very well that Manila is full of rippers, so why you act so uptight?? You ask yourself in your message if you are stupid ?? Well YES you are buddy !!!

  6. ChefWard says:
