Nilagang Baboy (Hot Boiled Pork with Vegetables) a very known Filipino dish. Its a combination of boiled pork and vegetables and seasoned to taste. This is love specially in a cold weather.

Nilagang Baboy is a comfort food for me. I love it when my mother cooked it for lunch and I will cooked the rice. We always kinda over eat when Nilagang Baboy is serve.

I always feel the same feeling when I was a child. I love it, especially if it is cooked with sweet corn. I love the natural sweetness of the sweetcorn and the added aroma to it.

What you need:

· 1 kl. pork, cut into serving pieces
· 5-6 cups water
· 3 cloves garlic, crushed
· 1 onion, quartered
· salt to taste
· 2 potatoes, quartered
· 3 whole sweet corn
· pechay (bok choy) leaves, washed

How to make it:

1. Put pork with water in a big pot, cover it over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
2. Lower the heat and add the corn in the pot.
3. Let it simmer until pork is tender for about an hour.
4. When boiling pork, it will produce a scum. Remove all the resulting scum that will rise.
5. Add garlic, onions, and potatoes then seasoned to taste.
6. Simmer for 5 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
7. Add pechay leaves. Do not overcook the green vegetables.
8. Remove from heat after 1 minute. Serve hot.

Hope you enjoy.

Nilaga is an indulgence especially during the rainy season.

BTW, I like how you’re starting to share recipes and actual cooking experiences. Keep it up.

There’s one recipe I like so much but don’t know an easy way to make: kare-kare. Do you cook that too? Share!

I’m planning to. But I need to see how my Grandma does it. She cooks one heck of a kare-kare. For my taste that is.

    Hi, Dante!

I love this recipe, too. I usually cook this without sweet corn, and this time, you inspired me to add sweet corn on it. How do I do this? Do it need to be cooked seperately? Please share the procedure, ‘coz its not in the instructions. hahaha. Thanks! :)

    Hi Lorie,

Hahahaha, sorry about that. I updated the post already. Add the corn after bringing it to a boil. This will tender the corn along side the pork.

    Thanks
